Maritta Perälä-Heape

Professor of practice

Dr. Maritta Perälä-Heape, PhD., Professor of practice in data-enabled healthcare and ecosystems, Director at Centre for Health and Technology, University of Oulu, Oulu, Finland. She is managing the strategic R&D&I collaboration between academia, business and public healthcare sector (OuluHealth ecosystem; www.ouluhealth.fi). She has over 30 years’ experience in health care sector, mainly in R&D and innovation management, Industrial R&D, business development, R&D&I funding, innovation politics and international network building. The current focus is in building competences in digital health research and innovation. She is actively contributing on the policies on person centric data management models. For example, she was leading a large national multi-disciplinary strategic research project called “Digital Health Revolution” (www.digitalhealthrevolution.fi). Her strengths include in particular the enhancement of open collaboration by bringing together main stakeholders and building larger R&D&I programs for the future needs in the digital health society. She is gathering the top researchers, healthcare providers and strategic business partners to solve the future needs of society and linking the multidisciplinary research into novel innovation activities to drive digital transition in the society.
